If I would name one thing where agile development has changed the way we deal with architecture, it is time perspective. Introducing time perspective changes and improves the way we deal with architecture in almost every possible way. It is also not valued enough and implications are not understood.
Time perspective is what makes the principle “always choose the simplest solution” work.
Time perspective resolves the problem of how to have teams make architectural decisions.
Time perspective is what makes microservices architecture less harmful.
Time perspective resolves conflict between short and long term decisions.
Time perspective makes refactoring effective.
Time perspective is a major skill and is missing for many architects.
